York Castle Museum is housed in buildings originally built as prisons for both debtors and felons. Its most famous inmate was highwayman Dick Turpin, who spent his last days here before being executed in 1739 for horse theft. Meet York Prison’s hangman as he awaits Dick Turpin’s execution and tells the full story of the notorious highwayman.
